It’s super worth having a fancy gym membership in New York City, in my opinion! Especially one that has multiple locations throughout the city. Sometimes it’s worth it just to use the restroom.
Equinox is usually the go-to when it comes to luxe facilities in the city. There have been a few blogs documenting the different amenities of those gyms, but none chronicling Life Time.
Life Time is now the largest luxury fitness brand in the U.S., with roughly 2x the locations of Equinox. They dominate in large-ish but not big enough for an Equinox cities, and suburban cities outside of the major metros.
I’m starting a series where I review Life Times throughout NYC. First off, I’m in Brooklyn for the Dumbo location.
I am hoping these pictures will be useful for folks who are researching gyms in the city and want to get a few visuals without needing to tour the facilities.
Dumbo is a fantastic Life Time location, arguably the best in the city. They have all the amenities you would typically find at a suburban location, like a pool, kids club, full-sized cafe and lots of space for coworking, as well as a private outdoor courtyard that’s open during the spring and summer. I believe this location is over 90K+ square feet.
I would say this is tied for my favorite Life Time location in NYC with Sky Manhattan and One Wall Street.
The instructors at this location specifically are fantastic. Lots of great classes, and they still have cycling, which they have been removing at other locations in favor of CTR, their new pilates reformer class.
My apologies for the rough shots, it’s kind of weird taking pictures inside the gym.
